This conference brings in over 1000 environmentalists, academicians, scientists, governmental personnel, and many others from all over the world. The purpose is to discuss how to help improve the oceans, particularly in California.

CSTR will have an informational booth.

2nd Annual Awards Weekend (18 Sep 2010)

This event is a banquet given to honor outstanding people who have worked hard for the benefit of CSTR. The awards given include

Volunteer of the Year
Hall of Fame Inductee
Flagship Award
Reef Builder Award

The banquet will be held onboard the M/V Explorer at the Ventura Harbor, 1583 Spinnaker Drive, Dock D-11 (directly behind the Greek Restaurant. No-host cocktails will start a 7:00pm, dinner at 7:30pm catered by Spinnaker Steak & Seafood. Immediately following dinner, our awards will be presented.

Following the banquet, those who are not diving on Sunday will depart the vessel & return to their hotels/homes. Divers will remain onboard for departure during the night for Channel Islands.

The Sunday dives will be a 2- or 3-tank dive depending on conditions and time available. All divers must bring their own equipment including weights & tanks. Air is available onboard however anyone diving Nitrox must bring filled tanks with them.

Pricing is as follows:

Member Divers: $120 includes banquet & dive trip
Member Non-Divers: $35 includes banquet
Non-member Divers: $135 includes banquet & dive trip
Non-member non-divers: $40 includes banquet

Deadline for registration & payment is September 15th. NO REFUNDS.

A room block was reserved at La Quinta Inn & Suites, 1320 Newbury Road, Newbury Park, CA (1-805-499-5910). King ($69 + tax); 2 Queens ($79 + tax). As of September 4th we can no longer guarantee availability or price.

This committee is responsible for all legal and permitting issues as they relate to California Ships to Reefs projects. This team covers such issues as Contract Law, Maritime Law, etc. on the Legal side, and works on all the permits required to get a ship to the bottom.

The Science Team is made up of 4 committees (Enrivonmental Impact Report, Reef Science, Research & Sink Sites). This team will work with our outside EIR consultant, research anything related (science or other) needed by any of the committees, locates and determines which sink sites meet appropriate acceptance criteria and does all the diving reef science data collection.
